The Tempe Apollos got a sterling performance from pitcher Ernest Smith, but the Neo-Tokyo Akira still prevailed, 6-4. Smith threw 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Earning his 9th save of the year was Bob Burns. The victory puts Neo-Tokyo at 18-30.

Neo-Tokyo got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Dave Hall. The pinch hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Akira ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 1 at-bat, it had a major impact on the outcome.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Hall said after the game.
