Panthers Bump Off Spartans, 3-1

The South Caldwell HS Spartans went down to defeat to Anastasio Torres and his DeSoto Central HS teammates. The final score was 3-1 in favor of the Panthers. Torres, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing no runs. With the win, the Panthers have a record of 5-5.
Ricardo Espinoza dealt the Spartans a blow in the top of the fifth. Batting with runners on 2nd and 3rd and DeSoto Central HS leading 1-0, Espinoza hit a 1-0 fastball for a 2-run single.
