The performance of Christopher Richards proved critical in helping Seton Hall Prep beat Central HS, 5-3. The Pirates second baseman was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Seton Hall Prep pitcher John Rose got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Errol Farmer got the loss. With the win, Seton Hall Prep upped its record to 7-6.
Richards contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Seton Hall Prep in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Richards took a fastball from Errol Farmer and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Pirates to leap in front, 4-3.
In postgame comments to the Seton Hall Prep Observer, Richards said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
