Wasilla picked up a win at Oceans Ballpark, toppling the Angoon Avalanche, 5-1. Pitcher Ovídio Bivar was one of the reasons the Sledge Dogs triumphed. In 6.2 innings, Bivar surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Wasilla now owns a record of 41-38.
Bennie Verhaar had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the seventh for Wasilla. He came through with a 2-run single to put Wasilla in front, 4-1.
"Ovídio -- his tempo and rhythm were good," said Sledge Dogs manager Robby Shepherd. "He was the key to us winning."
