Fairbanks got a first-rate effort from pitcher Félix González, who frustrated Kenai hitters en route to a 1-0 Grunts triumph at Metros Ballpark. Fairbanks is now 53-38, Kenai 54-37.

Though he did not get the decision, González did all he could to keep his team close, twirling a shutout through 8 innings, until Fairbanks eventually rallied past the Traders.

"This game tested our mettle," said González.
