Homer first baseman Gary Shears had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Shears was 3-4 with 2 home runs, even as Taku beat the Wallbangers, 11-5. Taku reliever Guillermo Gutiérrez was the winner. His record is now 1-9. The losing pitcher was António Bruno. The win gives the Winds a record of 31-64.

Scott Erickson aided the Taku cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the second. For the game, the right fielder was 2-4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Erickson told a Taku Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
