Skidding Hillers Lose 10th Straight
|
Right-hander Raúl Chávez mesmerized the Union City HS Hillers while leading the Cy-Fair HS Bobcats to a 2-0 victory. George McKay snagged the win in relief. In 2.2 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 1-0 on the season. Bobby LeBlanc closed the door for Cy-Fair HS, picking up his 18th save of the year.
Cy-Fair HS needed the clutch hitting of Ken Mercer to notch the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Bobcats on top, 2-0. For the game, Mercer had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I can only hope we've hit rock bottom," lamented losing manager Troy Sparks in postgame remarks.
Cy-Fair HS is now 33-15, Union City HS 19-29.
