Mustangs Win Nail-Biter

Crowds lined up early in front of Littleton Ballpark, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2040 Interscholastic Federation season. On the mound was Chris Helton for the visiting De La Salle HS Myrmidon and Jason Davis for the hometown Chatfield HS Mustangs. In a spirited contest, the Mustangs pulled out the win, defeating the Myrmidon by the score of 1-0. Especially impressive was Jason Davis. Randy Gibson earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. His record is now 1-0.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 13th inning, when Chatfield HS shortstop Ken Sims, facing Ted Gregg, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Mustangs the 1-0 win.
"It's great when the crowd is energized," Sims said.
