The Rocky Mountain HS Grizzlies went home winners at Ballpark of Rio Rancho, thanks in large part to starter Fred Bowman. Bowman stifled the Rio Rancho HS Goats, enabling Rocky Mountain HS to grab the 1-0 win. Bowman picked up the win for Rocky Mountain HS, going 5.2 innings. He gave up no runs on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 1-0. Don MacMonies sewed up the save, his 2nd.

Jesse Waters, the 16-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Waters contributed a solo home run in the top of the third inning to put Rocky Mountain HS up, 1-0.

"That's baseball," said Rio Rancho HS manager Jim Hill. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
