|
The Lana'i City Pineapples and Kailua Hanso riveted fans at Blue Birds Ballpark.
The performance of Yoshikazu Nakayama proved critical in helping Kailua beat Lana'i City, 10-3. The Hanso third baseman was 2-5 with 2 home runs, while adding 7 RBI and scoring twice. The winner was Kailua reliever Yoshihide Kimura, now 2-0. The loser was Pung-cho Yu.
Alfredo Vargas broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the fifth with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It put the Hanso in front, 2-1. For the game, Vargas drew 1 walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Nakayama told the Kailua Citizen.
Kailua is in third place in the Hawaiian League Aloha with a record of 31-26.
