De La Salle HS Beats Tumwater HS, 2-1

Thunderhawk Field was the site for Western League action featuring the Tumwater HS Thunderhawks and De La Salle HS Myrmidon.
De La Salle HS starter Héctor Cortéz put a stranglehold on the Tumwater HS offense. The right-hander had complete command of his splitter in leading the Myrmidon to a 2-1 win. Cortéz, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up no walks. Picking up the save was Octávio García, his 3rd.
In the top of the fourth, De La Salle HS catcher David Goode had a productive at-bat. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out, Goode stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 2-1, De La Salle HS. For the game, he was 1-3 with a walk.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Tumwater HS manager Javier Cortéz, "let me know."
The loss drops Tumwater HS to 2-6.
