The Sprague HS Torchbearers wasted an impressive 6-inning effort from starter Will Berk, falling 1-0 to the Lakewood HS Lancers at Lancers Ballpark. António González earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 2 strikeouts in 5 innings of work. Chris Jackson nailed down his 3rd save.
Early in the game, second baseman Howard Cardona had a run-scoring double for Lakewood HS. It was his 2nd double of the season and put the Lancers on top, 1-0.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Sprague HS skipper Lorenzo Castro.
With the win, Lakewood HS lifts its record to 6-3.
