The Hilo Hoops got a good effort from starter Seika Endo in defeating the Mauna Loa Vulcans at Hilo Ballpark. The final score was 2-1. The Hoops now have a mark of 34-37.
Ron Lowe was vital part of the Hilo win. He was 2 for 4 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the third with no one out, Lowe hit a run-scoring single. It made the score 2-0, in favor of the Hoops.
Afterward, Hoops manager António Díaz was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
