Water Buffalo Keep Streak Alive with Late Rally
|
The Yeosu HS Porpoises got a superb performance from pitcher Gilbert Mersch. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Manila HS. The Water Buffalo won the game, 6-3. Mersch threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The win belongs to Orliber Daoang in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Kang-il Yi took the loss for Yeosu HS. Manila HS, at 27-17, holds down third place in the Pacific Conference Oceanic Division.
Manila HS used a timely hit from Bonie Almodovar to get the win. The center fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Water Buffalo ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Almodovar. "And not try to do too much."
