Rifles Come Up Short at Nassau HS, 3-2
|
The Coasters grabbed a win, 3-2, at Nassau Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Eton pitcher Gideon Gibbard. Gibbard went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Aaron MacElfrish recorded the save, his 4th. Nassau HS has now won 5 straight.
Had Iemitsu Miyamoto not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Miyamoto hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Coasters.
"Good to pick up this win," Miyamoto said.
