Fireflies Deal Nene 2-1 Defeat

The Kobayashi Fireflies faced a tough opponent in Waimalu pitcher Mito Nishimura, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Blacksnakes Ballpark by a final score of 2-1. Nishimura went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Pedro Sánchez got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. Tsumemasa Yamada earned the save, his 18th.
The Fireflies got an important contribution from designated hitter Jorge Menéndez, who in the bottom of the third hit a fastball into center for a 2-run double. It was his 9th double of the season and put the Fireflies ahead, 2-0.
"Winning is not something we take for granted," Menéndez said.
Kobayashi, at 44-30, occupies second place in the Hawaiian League Ninja.
