Nene Score Late, Stun Volcanoes, 7-3
|
The performance of Koshiro Takeuchi proved critical in helping Waimalu beat Kilauea, 7-3. The Nene right fielder went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times. Mariano Pérez picked up the win in relief for Waimalu, while Armando García took the loss. The win puts Waimalu at 53-33 this season.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Atsushi Ohara was at the plate when Waimalu scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Nene to go in front, 4-3.
"I had some good swings out there," said Takeuchi.
