Lancers Ballpark was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
The Lakewood HS Lancers got a magnificent performance from pitcher António González, who muffled the Jesuit HS offense en route to a tight 1-0 Lancers win at Lancers Ballpark. González got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. González allowed no runs.
Lakewood HS left fielder Bill Dilnot contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 8th hit of the season and put the Lancers ahead, 1-0.
Dilnot called the win "a team effort."
Today's win puts Lakewood HS at 7-6, while Jesuit HS falls to 7-6.
