Guest Torchbearers Win, 3-2, at Rio Rancho HS
|
Sprague HS beat Rio Rancho HS at Ballpark of Rio Rancho, eking out a 3-2 win. The win was due in large part to left fielder Alex James. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jorge Román, now 1-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 3.2 innings. Earning his 6th save of the year was Bo Peery.
There was more than one reason the Torchbearers beat the Goats, but James's big at-bat in the top of the fifth was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-2 lead when he hit a 2-run home run.
James told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
The 6th-place Torchbearers go to 7-13.
