Paul Johnson pitched a gem to lead Mankato West HS to victory over the Sprague HS Torchbearers, 3-0. The 5th-place Reds have won 4 straight.
Mankato West HS second baseman Rob Gilmore contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a sinker into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 16th hit of the season and put the Reds ahead, 1-0.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Sprague HS skipper Lorenzo Castro, "and it cost us."
