Kevin Miller was outstanding against Shirakawa. The right-hander, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2037 draft, had a splitter that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Monsters 5-2 win. Lloyd Willerton earned his 13th save in 19 chances. At 59-29, the Monsters claim first place in the Hawaiian League Archipelago.

Mitsuhide Yamamoto went 1-3 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs for Kauai. The 19-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Dan Ingram. It was his 29th walk of the season.

Yamamoto attributed the win to his team's "hyper resolve."
