The Hilo Hoops clobbered the Kobayashi Fireflies, 13-3, at Hilo Ballpark. Hilo shortstop Ángel Herrera led the onslaught. He was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The Hoops go to 46-44, putting them 4th in the Hawaiian League Archipelago.

The Hoops got a big hit from designated hitter John Bayles. In the bottom of the fifth, Bayles pounded a 3-run home run to right-center. His 30th home run of the season put the Hoops ahead, 4-2.

"We got our butts kicked," said Kobayashi manager Patrick Wells.
