The Maui Mahi-Mahi picked up a win at Blue Birds Ballpark, knocking off the Kailua Hanso, 7-0. Starting pitcher Sotatsu Sakurai played a key role in the triumph. Armando Fuentes collected his 1st save. At 48-47, Maui is in third place in the Hawaiian League Archipelago.
In the top of the third, Maui designated hitter Scott Zimmerman had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Zimmerman stroked a 2-run single to right. It made the score 2-0, Maui. For the game, he was 1-5. He drove in 2 runs.
"Good win for us," said Zimmerman. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."
