Late Magic Gets Mauna Loa 4-1 Win
|
The Mauna Loa Vulcans picked up a win at Waimalu Grounds, knocking off the Waimalu Nene, 4-1. Starting pitcher Matsuo Yamashita played a key role in the triumph. Yamashita got the win, improving to 9-6. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. Yamashita allowed 1 run. Mauna Loa is now 52-46, while Waimalu is 60-38.
Mauna Loa needed the clutch hitting of Ernesto Núñez to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Vulcans on top, 4-1. For the game, Núñez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Enjoyed this one," Núñez told the Mauna Loa Herald. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
