Huskies Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Reds, 5-4
|
The Horizon HS Huskies faced a tough opponent in Mankato West HS pitcher Bill Robertson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Horizon HS Grounds by a final score of 5-4. Robertson went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Chris Davis, now 2-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 1. Michael Clark earned the save, his 7th.
Horizon HS took a 5-4 lead on Manny Méndez's 1st double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Méndez hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Mankato West HS pitcher Gene Chambers visibly frustrated.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Méndez.
With the win, the Huskies improved to 16-12.
