The Lakewood HS Lancers defeated the Mankato West HS Reds, 6-3, in Western League action at Lancers Ballpark. Lakewood HS pitcher Eugene Wade had a standout performance. Lakewood HS reliever Mike Jones was the winner. His record is now 2-1. Patrick Pryde took the loss. Chris Jackson earned the save for Lakewood HS, his 10th of the year.

Howard Cardona chipped in for Lakewood HS, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth inning. For the game, the second baseman was 3-4 with 3 singles.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Cardona. "And not try to do too much."
