The Boone HS Matadors got a magnificent effort from pitcher Willie Savage, who kept Chatfield HS hitters in check en route to a 1-0 Matadors win at Boone Ballpark. Boone HS reliever Royce Pulliam was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Kevin Knox. The Matadors move to 18-24 with the win, while the Mustangs drop to 19-23.

The Matadors relied on catcher Phil Norton for the game-winning hit. And, in the bottom of the tenth, he delivered, hitting a run-scoring single to seal the deal.

"This place was electric at the end," Savage said.
