The Mankato West HS Reds wasted an inspired, 6.1-inning effort from starter Paul Johnson, falling 2-0 to the Tumwater HS Thunderhawks at Mankato Park. Lúcio Young was credited with the save for Tumwater HS, his 8th of the season. At 18-25, the Thunderhawks are currently 6th in the Western League Northwest Conference.

Tumwater HS used the timely hitting of David Allen to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Thunderhawks on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Allen said. "That's how it goes."
