Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Mustangs
|
Behind an impressive start by Reed Gutiérrez, Chatfield HS beat Yerington HS, 5-2. The save went to Howard Bunch, number 11 for him. The Mustangs, at 20-23, sit in 4th place in the Western League Northwest Conference.
Chatfield HS used the timely hitting of Edward Barker to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mustangs on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Gutiérrez attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
