Yerington HS Skeeters starter Joe Matthews pitched his team past the Chatfield HS Mustangs, 3-1. Diego Rosendes picked up the save for Yerington HS, his 11th of the year. Yerington HS is now 23-21.

The Skeeters took the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Gerald Fairfield banged a two-out home run. Yerington HS had been trailing 1-0, but Fairfield hit a 0-1 fastball from John Balfour for a 3-run home run.

"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Fairfield said. "That's how it goes."
