Herrera Helps Diamond Cats Beat Colossus, 9-0
|
Luis Herrera made an impact in the 9-0 Guantanamo HS win over South Kamloops HS. Herrera, who leads the AC in bases on balls with 15, was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. Daniel Martínez earned the win to go to 3-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts in 5 innings of work. James Cameron recorded the save for Guantanamo HS, his 2nd of the season.
In the bottom of the second, Herrera had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run single off Ji-man Park that staked the Diamond Cats to a 2-0 lead.
"If we keep hitting the ball well, the wins will pile up," said Guantanamo HS skipper Karl Kelly.
The Diamond Cats saw their win-loss record go to 17-9. At the same time, the Colossus fell to 10-16.
