The 6-3 South Kamloops HS win over Guantanamo HS was due largely to Masuhiro Shini. The Colossus third baseman went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Pedro Álvarez. He tossed 77 pitches over 5.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. Stephen Dawson sewed up the save, his 3rd.

Shini contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for South Kamloops HS in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-0, Shini took a fastball from Gary Varley and stroked the home run to center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Colossus to leap in front, 3-2.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Shini. "And not try to do too much."

With the win, South Kamloops HS goes to 11-16, while the Diamond Cats fall to 17-10.
