Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the San Felipe HS Spaniards and the Montego Bay HS Mariners. San Felipe HS won it, 2-1. San Felipe HS starter Manuel Venegas was in command. The winning pitcher was Venegas, now 1-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 9. Ogai Takahashi earned the save, his 2nd.
The Mariners had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Spaniards going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 17-year old third baseman Marcus Pym came to the plate. Pym hit a solo home run on a 0-1 fastball from Montego Bay HS hurler Leon Calver. It was Pym's 1st home run of the year.
"I really like what we did out there today," Pym said after the game.
After today's action, San Felipe HS sits at 15-26; Montego Bay HS slips to 16-25.
