Already down in the Round 1, the Canuck HS Battlecats put on their best show, beating the Bowness HS Spartans by a final score of 3-2 today. Noritada Tanaka was special. He went 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Canuck HS now trails Bowness HS 3-2 in the best-of-7 affair.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Canuck HS center fielder Willie Gibbs, facing Chris Telford, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Battlecats the 3-2 win.

"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Gibbs said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."

Game 6 is scheduled for Wednesday at Bowness HS Ballpark in Calgary.
