When he got to Nassau HS, Luis González was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the Round 1.

The 17-year-old rookie right-hander shut out the host Matanzas HS El Poeta 5-0 in a remarkable performance at Matanzas Field today. With the win, the Coasters took a 3-0 lead in the best-of-7 Round 1.

González, the Nassau HS right-hander, went 6 innings, allowing no runs on 3 hits. He collected 7 strikeouts.

"We don't have much margin for error now," El Poeta manager Travis Cruz said. "We need to figure out the problem and fix it, immediately."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Matanzas Field in Matanzas.
