Matanzas HS Win to Pull Even With Nassau HS
|
The Matanzas HS El Poeta and the Nassau HS Coasters will take the Round 1 to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the El Poeta beat the Coasters 3-1 at Nassau Ballpark to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Matanzas HS designated hitter Daniel Aguilar was 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.
Aguilar had a consequential at-bat in the top of the fourth for the El Poeta. Coming up with a runner on 2nd and Matanzas HS trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run home run.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Matanzas HS manager Travis Cruz.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Nassau Ballpark in Nassau.
