Barbe HS Breaks Through for First Win in Round 1; Now Trails 2-1
The Barbe HS Buccaneers have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Sarasota HS Sailors, winning 7-6 at Sailors Ballpark today. Buccaneers right-hander John Richardson threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Buccaneers to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Round 1.

Eric Jordan chipped in for Barbe HS, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 2.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Jordan, "but a win in the playoffs is nothing to sniff at."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Sailors Ballpark in Sarasota.
