In a pivotal Game 5, the Sarasota HS Sailors were hoping for a big game from starter Samuel Johnston. They got one.

The left-hander shut out the Barbe HS Buccaneers, proving to be the difference-maker as he led his club to a 1-0 victory. The Sailors took the 1-0 win over the Barbe HS Buccaneers to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 series.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, an error by the Buccaneers allowed the Sailors to score the winning run.

"The old adage is true," said Johnston. "Good pitching stops good hitting."

The next game is set to be played for Thursday, May 3rd , 2040 at Ballpark of Barbe HS in Lake Charles.
