When the games really matter, the Cy-Fair HS Bobcats put on their best show, beating the DeSoto Central HS Panthers by a final score of 1-0 today. Justin Smith threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Cy-Fair HS now leads DeSoto Central HS 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.

Luis Castro was 1-2 with a double for Cy-Fair HS. In a tie game with one out in the bottom of the seventh, Castro came through with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Bobcats in front, 1-0.

"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Cy-Fair HS Bobcats (probably) 2040 Round 4 Champions'," Castro told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Cy-Fair HS Grounds in Jersey Village.
