Home Field Advantage: Workman, Castle HS Open Round 1 with Win
|
The Castle HS Lords started the Round 1 in style today, downing the visiting Jesuit HS Corsairs at Field of the Lords by a score of 5-2 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Lords catcher José Workman was 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the sixth when Workman hit a 3-run home run. It propelled the Lords into the lead, 5-2.
"We're happy," Workman told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Field of the Lords in Newburgh.
