Hildegard Breaks Through for First Win in Round 1; Now Trails 2-1
The Hildegard Saints have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Bowness HS Spartans, winning 6-4 at Hildegard Stadium today. Saints designated hitter Horst Schwartstein went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. The win cuts the deficit facing the Saints to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Round 1.

In the bottom of the fifth, Walter Rauh delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 2nd, the Hildegard right fielder hit a 2-run home run, putting the Saints in front, 6-4.

"It's a big deal," Schwartstein said of the win. "If we had gone to 0-3, we're pretty much out of it."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hildegard Stadium in Cologne.
