Bowness HS Advances to Round 2
|
The Bowness HS Spartans didn't hold back their excitement after beating the Hildegard Saints in the Round 1 tonight.
Members of the team rushed onto the field and celebrated joyously when the victory became official, with a 5-4 win moving the club on to the Round 2, clinching a 4-2 series win in front of the Bowness HS Ballpark crowd.
"This isn't the big one, but of course we need to get through this before we can win a Round 4, so it's an important step," said Phil Skinner as he took a break from celebrating. "Our guys are happy and excited to be moving on."
Skinner was named series MVP, as he hit .500 with a .565 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 3 runs.
On the other side of the diamond, there was desolation. Many members of the Saints sat stone-faced in their dugouts, simply watching Bowness HS celebrate.
The Bowness HS Spartans don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Hoorn Schooners - Point Grey HS Hounds series. Point Grey HS leads the series 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
