Avocat Clip Bear 4-3 in R1 Contest
|
Despite a great performance by Waseda starter Sadakuno Watanabe, the Hosei University Avocat defeated the Bear by the score of 4-3 at Ballpark of Sasebo College today. Watanabe threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball, but he couldn't prevent the Avocat from moving one game closer to the Round 2. Hosei University now leads the Round 1 2-1.
Hosei University used the clutch hitting of Ismael Sánchez to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Avocat the lead, 4-3. For the game, Sánchez had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"I guess we'll all be a happy family for at least one day," said Sánchez.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Sasebo College in Tokyo.
