Instituto Politecnico Nacional Breaks Through for First Win in Round 1; Now Trails 2-1
The Instituto Politecnico Nacional Mules have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Sarnia Canada Baysiders, winning 3-2 at The Stables today. Mules right-hander Enrique Sánchez threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Mules to 2-1 in the best-of-7 Round 1.

César Árias helped out the Instituto Politecnico Nacional cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-4 with a double.

"It's a big deal," Sánchez said of the win. "If we had gone to 0-3, we're pretty much out of it."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Stables in Mexico City.
