Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Nene
The Waimalu Nene beat the Maui Mahi-Mahi, 5-2, at Kokua Gardens. The win was due in part to designated hitter Robert Gökalp, who slugged 2 home runs. Waimalu reliever Patrick Smith picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Manny Gallegos absorbed the loss. After today's action, Waimalu sits at 66-41, while Maui falls to 52-55.

In the top of the eighth, Gökalp put his team in front with his 8th home run of the season. The solo home run, which came against Manny Gallegos, made it 3-2, Waimalu.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Gökalp.
