Road Win Lifts East Rutherford HS to 1-0 Lead in R2
When he got to East Rutherford HS, Evan Gould was just worrying about staying on the roster. Today, he was starring in the Round 2.

The 17-year-old rookie right-hander shut out the host Cy-Fair HS Bobcats 9-0 in a remarkable performance at Cy-Fair HS Grounds today. With the win, the Cavaliers took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 Round 2.

East Rutherford HS relied on the hitting of Parker Clark to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cavaliers on top, 1-0. For the game, Clark had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"Before the game, I told the guys that what happened today would set the tone for the rest of the series," Bobcats manager John Redfern said after the loss. "I'm really hoping I was wrong about that."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Cy-Fair HS Grounds in Jersey Village.
