Volcanoes Fall Short at Lana'i City, 4-3
|
The Lana'i City Pineapples topped the Kilauea Volcanoes, 4-3, in Hawaiian League action at Dole Park. The standout performance belonged to Lana'i City pitcher and Shanghai, China, native An-yi She. The winner was Kelly Callahan in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Carlos Negrón took the loss. Gunnar Lee was credited with the save for Lana'i City, his 13th of the season.
Lana'i City took a 4-3 lead on Gary Newell's 5th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Newell hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Kilauea pitcher Carlos Negrón visibly frustrated.
She told a Lana'i City Observer reporter that he was "very satisfied" with the win.
Lana'i City, at 38-70, holds down 5th place in the Hawaiian League Archipelago.
