Bowness HS Advances to Round 4
|
Shigeru Kodo said he didn't even realize how well he had been playing in the Round 3 until he was shown his own statistics.
The Bowness HS Spartans catcher put up a .500 average with 3 home runs, 5 RBI and 3 runs scored, enough to earn him series MVP honors. It all added up to his Spartans advancing to the Round 4, with a 4-1 series win over the Eton Rifles.
"I didn't really pay attention to the numbers or my stats at all as we went along," he said. "I'm just so focused on trying to help the team win, that's it."
The series victory had become official with a 3-0 triumph at Rifles Ballpark. Even if Kodo is not paying close attention to his stats, the rest of baseball certainly will be keeping an eye on him as the playoffs continue.
"I like to be under pressure and think I respond well to it," he said.
The Bowness HS Spartans will play against the Taitung HS Hermits in the next round. Taitung HS won their series against the Port Lincoln HS Trawlers 4 games to 1. The Round 4 schedule will be announced after the Round 3 finishes.
