Wild Card Game 1 Victory for Fernández and Barrow
The Barrow Arctic Blast started the Wild Card in style today, downing the visiting Fairbanks Grunts at Ballpark of Carthage by a score of 5-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Arctic Blast left-hander Carlos Fernández threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball.

Si-dao Fang swatted a 2-run double for Barrow in the bottom of the seventh. The center fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 3.

"This team is championship material," Fang told BNN reporters after the game. "I can see it when I look around the clubhouse. We've still got a long way to go, but I know this team."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Carthage in Barrow.
