Kenai Wins Again, 2-1
|
The Kenai Traders moved to within one game of the Divisional today, downing the Whitehorse Explorers on the road at Whitehorse Ballpark by a score of 2-1. Traders right-hander Elton Kitchens had a strong outing. He threw 5.1 innings allowing 1 runs. The win gives the Traders a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Wild Card.
Kenai needed the clutch hitting of Minh-Tong Wang to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Traders on top, 2-1. For the game, Wang had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"Elton was throwing free and easy," said Kenai manager Tony Thompson.
The next game is set to be played for Sunday, October 2nd , 2039 at Metros Ballpark in Kenai.
